These are the horror comics your parents didn’t want you to read. For a brief period in the early 1950s they were available everywhere and then suddenly just disappeared from sight. Everyone knows about the celebrated EC horror comics, but manypeople have forgotten, or never knew about, these “other” horror comics from the same period. Weird Ghastly Horror presents a nostalgic look at what was great, not so great, and yet very typical of the forbidden horror comics of the 1950s. Don’t let your mother catch you reading these!

Better than most. Stories are hand picked for quality, reproduction is also good. I had to bury my stash of 5o's horror comics as a child, since parents had been whipped into an anti-comic frenzy by the media of the time.Product details

Weird Ghastly Horror Forbidden Horror Comics of the 1950s eBook Various Artists John Howells Reviews
This isn't quite a review, just as 's "Look Inside" wasn't really quite like looking inside. It was more like looking inside a closet without a light. I wanted to see a few pages of the interior art to get an idea if this is a collection I would like to buy. Instead, displays the cover, the table of contents, the introduction, then conveniently jumps to the back cover without revealing ANYTHING from the stories themselves. Combine that with just two brief reviews--one pro and one con--and I'm not convinced I should or shouldn't buy it. This book will remain a mystery to me until somebody can provide a real display of the inside or somebody writes a more in-depth, specific review.
Most of the stories in this are pretty bad as is the artwork. There are a few by Ditko and Fred Gardineer that are interesting.
